ALS of Nevada - ALS ALL Star Awards Presented


(I-Newswire) Las Vegas, Nevada – November 16, 2005 – On November 10, 2005 ALS of Nevada presented its 2004 ALL Star Awards to recognize individuals and businesses for exemplary “service before self” to the ALS community. More than 120 guests gathered at the Rio Hotel and Casino Wine Cellar for the awards ceremony and donor appreciation event. 

The following were honored:

The 2004 All Star Award for Advocacy:  Mike Henderson, Las Vegas
The 2004 Award for Volunteer Services:  Martin Barrett, Sparks
2004 All Star Award for Public Awareness:  Nitsa Gianaklouis, Henderson
The 2004 Community Partner Award:  Staton Elementary School, Las Vegas
2004 All Star Award for Patient Services:  Alan Gold, Las Vegas
2004 Steve Rigazio Voice of Courage Award:  David Saxe, Las Vegas
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis ( ALS ) is a fatal neuromuscular disease more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. ALS claims the lives of those affected within two to five years from the time of onset. ALS attacks motor neurons making the simplest movements such as walking, communicating, and eating nearly impossible. ALS affects one in 50 families.

ALS of Nevada, an independent 501 ( c ) 3 non-profit organization is dedicated to providing patient care and services to those that have ALS and their families in Nevada.
